Parks, Trails & Paseos
In and around Santa Clarita are some of California's most awesome natural parks, great for day picnics, hiking, mountain biking and exploring.
Enjoy crystal clear water, fully stocked lakes and skies of heavenly blue at one of Santa Clarita's five nearby lakes: Lake Piru, Pyramid Lake, Castaic Lake, Lake Elizabeth, and Lake Hughes.
Castaic Lake Recreation Area

Castaic Lake Recreation Area is a 9,000-acre park featuring many of your favorite water and outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, jet skiing, swimming, and mountain biking.
Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park

Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park north of Santa Clarita off the Antelope Valley Freeway (SR-14) is a 750-acre reserve that once served as a hideout for outlaw Tiburcio Vasquez, and was a shelter for the Tatavian Indians. One of the best places in Southern California for outdoor photographers and moviemakers, Vasquez Rocks has ample space for activities, with a variety of bike and horseback riding trails. For rock-climbers, the steep, jagged rocks in the park offer plenty of adventurous opportunities.
Ed Davis Park & Towsley Canyon

Placerita Canyon Nature Center

Castaic Lake Water Agency and Conservatory Garden

Adjacent to the Castaic Lake Water Agency's Rio Vista Water Treatment Plant, the Garden and Learning Center explores the beauty and ease of water-efficient gardening. Everything you need to know about water-wise gardening! Located on a high plateau against the spectacular backdrop of the Santa Clarita Valley, you'll find a unique garden thriving with more than 350 varieties of plants, flowers (including over 1500 roses), and grasses.
City of Santa Clarita Parks & Trails
The city general plan is integrating the city's natural forest reserves with recreational parks and trails for the enjoyment of generations of residents. The parks provide a variety of sports facilities like baseball diamonds, football playing fields, swimming pools, soccer fields, volleyball courts, tennis courts, gymnastics equipment, and dancing areas.

Trails
Bouquet Canyon Trail: The one-mile trail runs from Newhall Ranch Road to Bouquet Canyon Road.
Commuter Rail Trail: The trail runs east/west along the Soledad Canyon Road from Camp Plenty Road to the Golden Triangle. The six-mile trail has continuous entry and little traffic.
Santa Clara River Trail: A six-mile trail that runs east/west from Lost Canyon Road to Soledad Canyon Road. Plans to expand the trail to the west that follows the Santa Clara River.
South Fork Trail: The three-mile bike trail connects with the paseos and the Santa Clara River Trail. It runs along the South Fork from Old Orchard Road, Newhall, to McBean Parkway, Saugus.
